I just watched a PBS Frontline special about the Nazi concentration camps of World War II. If you have any question, as to the terrifying reality of toture in the 20th century please watch here.

The argument that we should unlawfully hold detainees is un-American. The fact is we are a culture built on laws and freedoms within those laws. To move outside of our nature is ridiculous. I would rather live with terrorism than live without my freedom. After all, our freedom and our Constitution is what we are protecting!

The call for Congress to act to defend our laws should come now! There is no time to wait…

“Never Forget”

Our Western conformity wouldn’t exist. So, why is original thought pressed into non-conformity? Why is it that we value the non-conformist when there is really no such thing?

• Whoever creates the masterpiece does so because someone who knows no masterpiece may say it is so.
• The woman who is beautiful is so, not because of an inherent beauty, but only through symetry
• Nature is only wondrous to man when the beast is calm. No one says, “look at that beautiful 100 tidal wave about to crush us all”.

Our creative self is motivated only through the boundaries of this life. It is not compelled because of intuition, foresight or chance. The Zen master might say quietly to you, “you are human, after all.”

The idea that we are bound by our human-socio nature – straight lines – shouldn’t bother you. If it does, you are not comfortable with your nature. Be that way. Or, better yet, work to be that way. I say work, because as Westerners we understand the journey better than we do the end. Your compass to original thought should be in the way you conform YOURSELF!

As a cyclist, writer, blogger, runner, climber and VP, I am compelled to operate with two wheels, two feet, 26 letters and software. I have only the tools to share and utilize. I do not break. Original thought comes through the idea of these tools, not inspite of them.

We have only our limits to contend with. I say be happy with your limits and the conformity that will always exist. Work within these boundaries and you will find there are no boundaries.
